If you have ever seen a “helicopter seed?” Then you have seen a Samara. The winged seed can travel a lot further than a wingless seed. The same goes for images. Samara allows productions to view their content anywhere on the planet—it’s like a video monitor with wings
Samara was created for filmmakers by filmmakers, not by some big tech company. Colorist Aaron Peak, director Nenad Cicin-Sain, and producer Paul Geffre founded the company and represent a wide array of post and production disciplines. Originally designed to facilitate remote color-grading sessions, Samara quickly became an important asset during physical production. Clients love Samara because of its speed, its simplicity, and its flexibility. Samara is unique because of our relentless focus on creating the simplest, fastest, and most secure and flexible remote-collaboration tool available.
What does Samara do, how do you set it up, and how does it help me? Plug in and click once. Samara is a fully-customizable platform that enables production teams to view and collaborate on content in real time. Samara works on-set by connecting directly to the camera, to the DIT system, or to video assist, and broadcasting the images from the camera to anyone, anywhere.

Samara utilizes hardware encoders to securely encrypt and send any video signal connected to a fully-customizable web interface for viewing on any connected device. Samara also works with any calibrated monitoring environment by adding additional decoding hardware. The Samara decoder supports full UHD and High Dynamic Range (HDR).
Streaming media in real time anywhere in the world is cool, but it’s way cooler to be able to discuss it with your team at the same time. Samara has live video (and text) chat built in. Samara also supports “behind the scenes” web cams that allow your feel like you are there on set, or in the edit suite.
Samara hates rules and limitations, which is why our interface is fully customizable and why you can stream to as many people as you want, as often as you like, for as long as you need to.
Samara takes security very seriously, but also understands that different clients have different needs.
Samara partners with Cloudflare, Google, and Okta for user login authentication. This can be as secure as two-factor authentication, or as simple as a single username and password that can be shared with the whole team.
Samara utilized the latest encryption technology for their streams, and no actual files are ever transferred—it is just video.
Samara integrates into your facility or existing internet infrastructure meaning if your network is secure, Samara is secure behind your firewall.
